The Trinity Passport Program

We are a sister school to Trinity Academy of Irish Dance located in Chicago, Illinois. Trinity has won 28 World Titles in Irish Dancing and is the most recognized Irish Dance school in the United States.

We utilize an unparalleled format of instruction called The Trinity Passport Program. This unique curriculum illustrates the journey each student takes as he or she explores the world of Irish Dance. Each step on their way is designed to be fun and exciting.

Each child will receive a workbook that is a step-by-step guide through the various stages of Irish Dance. They can use it as a reference notebook and personalize it with drawings and stickers. The idea is to have fun and learn at the same time.

The Passport Program's figurative journey winds across the landscape of Ireland, from the "Rivers" for young children ages 4-5, through the "Counties" for older children and on to the "Provinces" for more advanced students. This program centeres on the empowerment of each child, with lessons focused on self-confidence and teamwork. Instructors use a distinct, noncompetitive teaching method that places children on a "journey" through Ireland, teaching the beauty of the dance form as well as cultural and life lessons along the way.

The River Program

This program is for students in the 4 to 5 year old range and focuses on the development of the whole child, concentrating on coordination, balance, rhythm, and strength. These young dancers will learn steps of Irish Dance with no previous dance experience required. Classes are held each week for 45 minutes.

Counties

New students begin their journey in County Cork. They are introduced to dances such as the "Jig" and "Reel", while concentrating on proper posture, foot placement, timing, and stage presence. Through a series of carefully designed streteching and dance exercies, the students gain confidence and poise very quickly. Dancers begin in the County program at ages 6-12, but stay there well into high school or even college. After learning some initial skills in Cork, they move to Derry. Classes for Counties Cork and Derry meet for 60 minutes per session.

Counties Kilkenny, Limerick, and Sligo are next on the journey for dancers of intermediate skill levels. Classes for these counties meet for 75 minutes per session.

Counties Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford, and Wicklow continue the journey for the most advanced dancers. Classes for these counties meet for 90 minues per session.
